| A ONE stop shop for gas, water, electricity,
telecommunications and cable television installations
has been launched by Mid Kent Water (MKW).
Coordinating multi utilities
has posed a perennial headache to house builders,
but MKW’s Multi Utility (MU) service
takes the angst out of the role.
The MU service enables developers
to slash their costs and claw back valuable
time by outsourcing the work to consultants
in the business.
Steve Baker
, Commercial Manager, said:
“By giving
the responsibility of coordinating
all utilities to one service provider
developers can concentrate on their
core business - building and construction.
MKW talks the
same language as the other utilities,
because we are one, but we recognise
the need to do things differently
in terms of process and timescale" |
While developers focus on
site issues, the paperwork and arrangements
needed to install numerous utilities can be
managed by experts at MKW who provide a fully
managed integrated solution for customers
requiring new infrastructure.
A small team can coordinate
installations for developers anywhere in the
UK from our head office in Rocfort Road, Snodland.
They have the know-how to
obtain network plans and commission detailed
design drawings showing the route of new pipes
and cabling, to the client’s specification,
carry out the installation and dispose of
the assets.
The team can run everything
from applying for the supply, network design
and liaising with the license holder, to coordinating
service connections, logistical management,
meter installation and the adoption of new
infrastructure.
“Multi
utility offers tangible commercial benefits
by cutting costs and increasing efficiencies.
There are distinct advantages
in one utility taking ownership for the process
from design to commissioning,”
“This traditionally
monopolistic service has resulted in a lengthy,
drawn-out procedure that does not reflect
today’s requirement to provide a fast
and efficient solution for utility customers.
Developers work to tight
schedules and so it is crucial that when they
give a completion date to a buyer they have
to hit that date, the customer expects that
plot to be ready on time. We will deliver
connections on time,"
